Skillet Tortellini with Sausage and Cherry Tomatoes
Crumbled Italian sausage adds bulk and depth to this quick one-pan dinner. For a one-pan weeknight crowd-pleaser, we brown sweet Italian sausage and cook cheese tortellini in the same skillet.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 pound sweet Italian sausage, casings removed
- 2 garlic clove, sliced thin
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 12 ounces cheese tortellini
- 6 ounces cherry tomato, halved
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, for garnishing
Instructions
- 1Note: We developed this recipe with Barilla Three Cheese Tortellini. Pass extra Parmesan cheese at the table.
- 2Heat oil in 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Add sausage and cook, breaking meat into small pieces with spoon, until no longer pink, about 4 minutes.
- 3Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add broth and pasta and bring to boil. Cook, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender, about 15 minutes.
- 4Stir in tomatoes and cook until slightly softened, about 2 minutes. Sprinkle with basil and serve with Parmesan.
