Ingredients
- 16 ounces carrots (baby or small whole carrots)
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- 1Gather the ingredients.
- 2Combine the carrots with the water, butter, and brown sugar in a medium saucepan. Toss together.
- 3Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and continue to cook, adjusting the heat as necessary to maintain a lively simmer, for about 20 to 30 minutes or until carrots are tender and the liquid has evaporated. Stir frequently to avoid scorching. Add more water if needed.
- 4The liquids will boil down and the water will evaporate, leaving the carrots cooked and nicely glazed with the brown sugar syrup.
- 5Season the carrots to taste with salt and pepper. Serve and enjoy!
